🛡️ The Short Version: FileLensPro is an offline-first, on-device document search and indexing tool. We do not collect, transmit, store, sell, or share your personal documents, photos, or search queries on external servers. All text extraction (OCR), indexing, and searching operate 100% locally on your device.
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how FileLensPro ("we", "our", or "app") processes and protects your data. Your privacy and digital security are our foundational principles. We believe that your private documents, receipts, business cards, and photos belong solely to you.
2. Permissions We Request & Purpose
To provide core offline search, document viewing, and OCR functionality, FileLensPro requests the following system permissions:
All Files Access & Storage (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / Media Permissions): Purpose: Required for the app's core Document Management and Local Search functionality. This allows the app to index files (PDFs, Word documents, Excel sheets, text files, and images) across selected device folders or storage so you can instantly find content offline. All indexed metadata and OCR text are stored exclusively in a private SQLite database on your physical device.
Camera (android.permission.CAMERA): Purpose: Used strictly when you take a photo of a document, card, or receipt directly within the app for on-device OCR text extraction. Camera feeds are never recorded or transmitted remotely.
Media & Photos (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_MEDIA_VIDEO): Purpose: Used to discover photo albums and images selected by the user for on-device OCR scanning.
3. How Your Data is Handled (Core Features)
100% On-Device Processing: OCR (Optical Character Recognition) for English and Devanagari (Hindi) is powered by bundled Google ML Kit models that run directly on your phone's processor.
Local Search Engine: Search indices, vector embeddings, bookmarks, and categorized tags are saved locally in your device's private app storage sandbox.
No Server Uploads: Your files, scanned documents, search queries, and index databases are never uploaded to our servers.
No User Tracking: We do not track user behavior, location, personal identity, or search history.
4. Third-Party Services & Optional Cloud Features
While FileLensPro is completely functional offline, the app integrates with specific standard third-party services for optional features and software maintenance:
Optional AI Features (Google Gemini API):
If you explicitly choose to use optional generative AI features (e.g., generating structured document summaries), the specific text or snippet you manually select is securely transmitted to Google's Gemini API over encrypted HTTPS. This feature is strictly opt-in and requires your explicit action.
App Maintenance & OTA Updates (Expo):
To deliver security patches and bug fixes without requiring a full store re-download, the app securely checks Expo update endpoints. This transmits standard device telemetry (operating system version, device model, and IP address) solely to deliver the appropriate update package.
5. Data Retention, Security & Deletion
Because all data generated by FileLensPro resides locally on your device, you have complete and permanent control over it:
In-App Controls: You can delete individual bookmarks, saved searches, custom cards, or clear the entire index directly from the app's settings at any time.
Permanent Deletion: Uninstalling the FileLensPro application or selecting "Clear Data" in your Android Settings immediately and permanently destroys all local databases, cached indices, and extracted OCR text from your device.
6. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
FileLensPro does not knowingly collect, request, or store personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. The app is a general-purpose offline utility for document indexing and local file search.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to comply with relevant laws or Google Play Developer Program Policies. The updated version will be indicated by the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
